 We would like to welcome everyone back to Nursery. We are looking forward to seeing what the children get up to this term. As you will see everyone has settled back in, and all areas of the Nursery have been popular.

Children born between 1st March 2017 and 28th February 2018 are now eligible to enrol for nursery
 
Open Evening - Monday 13th January 3.30 - 5.30pm
Prospective parents of children in their Nursery or Pre-school year are invited to meet staff, see our plans for expansion, pick up an enrolment form and have a loot at our setting.

Nursery registration week is Monday 20th - Friday 24th January.
Children who are returning to Papdale for a second year do not need to fill in an enrolment form.

 On our daily mile walks we noticed the colours in the sky as the sun rose. This inspired our artwork as we created our own sunrise pictures.

Hall Time
When it's not weather to get outside we might be found in the hall playing games, exercising or doing drama.
This week we were singing  'This is the way we go to school'
 We walked...
 jumped....
 ran...
 and slithered our way to school.
 



Fun outside
 
On Thursday we went up to the trees and lit our fire-pit. We spoke about safety first before lighting the fire, and were careful to make sure we put it out before leaving. We were singing songs around the fire.




It's not just adults who read stories in Nursery. The children can often be found telling each other stories, and listening to each other.

A Busy Nursery

    Planning Wall   Block Play   This week the children have been building structures that they have been jumping from. This involves working co-operatively with others, and assessing risk to see if it feels safe to jump. We are noticing how well the children are turn taking when it's busy, and waiting to help keep each other safe.        Some of the Kettlings have been sharing their experiences of airports and planes at group times. They planned what would be needed to build a plane, before being challenged to build their plane in the block area. As you can see the plane was busy, we even went to the moon to put out a fire. Rain rain come again

    * A peedie reminder that we are out in all weathers (rain, wind, sun, frost and snow) so please ensure that your child comes to Nursery suitably dressed for all occasions * It has been another busy week outdoors as you can see below. We have been learning across all areas of the curriculum during our play.     Developing gross motor skills with the help of our friends  Orientation    Balancing skills  Learning about volume  What do you do if you have no water left in the water butt? Out and about

      *Reminder- We close today Friday 11th October. Nursery opens again on Wednesday 30th October*   If your child attends on a Thursday they can dress up for Halloween on the 31st if they would like to. We hope you don't scare us too much!!   On the buses A small group of children went for a very exciting trip this week. They walked down to the Town Hall before catching the bus back to Nursery. They had to check timetables, wait for the bus, and everyone had to give the driver money before they could get their tickets. The bus went around the town before arriving at KGS, where the children got off.       The Secret Garden On our visit to the Secret Garden last week we spoke to the children about the fire-pit and what we had to do to stay safe if we light it.
