A Busy Nursery
Planning Wall
Block Play
This week the children have been building structures that they have been jumping from. This involves working co-operatively with others, and assessing risk to see if it feels safe to jump. We are noticing how well the children are turn taking when it's busy, and waiting to help keep each other safe.
Some of the Kettlings have been sharing their experiences of airports and planes at group times. They planned what would be needed to build a plane, before being challenged to build their plane in the block area. As you can see the plane was busy, we even went to the moon to put out a fire. One child did comment though that the hose and fire engine would float away " 'cos there's no gravity in space".
Hard at work building and repairing
Art Area
The art area is stocked with a selection of resources which helps to encourage children's creativity. This week we have been making collage pictures and painting on different surfaces, both horizontal and vertical. Some children were painting pumpkins which has been a sensory experience.
Around the Nursery
Mixing colours in the mud kitchen is still proving popular
It's hard work helping at snack time! We have a dishwasher but this girl wanted to do the dishes by hand
Pattern making, and seeing how tall we can make a tower before it breaks
Listening to sounds and rhythms , and copying them
Making butterflies
Tension grows as the tower gets taller - working together to see if we can make it taller than all of us
Making cookies
In term 1 we have been talking about our families. Look at this family complete with the family pet.
Drop In Evening
We would like to thank everyone who came along on Tuesday. It was really encouraging to see so many people. We all felt it was a lovely relaxed evening which gave you a chance to see how your child is getting on and what they get up to in Nursery. If you didn't make it along and would like an appointment with your child's keyworker just ask at drop off or pick up time and we can get it arranged. We still have the displays in Nursery for you to see.
Memory Café
We went our first trip to the Memory Café on Thursday. There will be monthly trips during the year when the children will have the opportunity to play games, do crafts and sing songs with the service users. We hope the children and adults will build friendships over their time there.
A Special Day
It was a special day for Miss Easton last Friday when she graduated. A group of children went down to the cathedral to surprise her when she came out from the service. They had time for snack at the Town Hall as well.
Congratulations Miss Easton!!
