Weeks beginning 10th and 17th February. This week has been busy in the block area, with lots of learning taking place. We are learning about size, height, shape, we are balancing the shapes and learning about position. We are being creative, while keeping ourselves and each other safe. The children have been exploring the mud and jumping in the puddles. We are playing with the new scales, learning about weight, capacity, volume and mathematical language - more/less. This week we have been exploring gloop with Miss Wishart. 'Its sticky and hard and it drips.' We have been exploring with balloons. We are learning to share space safely and to move our bodies to successfully tap, throw, catch, kick and balance a balloon with different parts of our bodies. We followed a recipe to make the playdough to create our own gingerbread people, after reading the 'Gingerbread Man' story. We have been very busy outdoors this week with the loose parts. We have been learning about safety, balancing, developing gross motor skills and connecting items. We have been up to the all weather pitch flying paper aeroplanes after the children have been busy playing with them in the setting. A visit up to the woods to find signs of spring. ...
