Ducklings, Fires and Poppies

Week Beginning 4th November

To begin the week we had a visit of Leo's Granny's Ducklings. We gathered together and watched the ducklings, some of the children got to touch them to see how they felt and some got a chance to try and feed them.

We have been mark making in a range of resources.

We have had the dentist in checking our teeth and putting fluoride varnishing on them.

We have been looking at Diwali, the children have been learning about it.

'We could find India on the big map.'

'India is at the other side of the world'
'Fireworks are like lights.'

Following our provocation of the Armistice day tough spot, the children went a walk to the Cathedral and found a few poppies on route to buy.

'It was 10 O'clock because the clock went ding, dong, ding, dong 10 times.'
'The cross means we remember people.'

'We lit poppies because we're learning about poppies.'
'The Cathedral was made out of sand stones.'
'The Cathedral was red and yellow.'

'The shops had poppies in the window.'

The Memory Café

This month the group baked for the café users and we took up black paper and the children made bonfire pictures. One of the ladies requested we sang to them early as she loved to hear the children singing and had to leave early. We sang them a few songs we have been singing at school.
